I think it was Lethal Weapon 2 that introduced me to the concept of a nail gun. In one scene Danny Glover tears up a dude with a nail gun. I finally got to use one today and now I am hooked. This thing is freaking sweet!
$20 at Harbor Freight for the gun and a borrowed air compressor makes for a fun day. It is to trim carpentry as zero turn radius lawn tractors are to lawn care. I would go to some stranger's house to nail things for them for free. It is that much fun. It also helps that when I was done I gave the gun away to my Father-In-Law as a thanks for helping gift. Useful and I don't have to store it. Perfect day indeed!

This had better not be a joke
You need to take a moment to read up on this technology. Splashpower has to be one of the coolest things I have read about in a long time. It is a wireless charger for gadgets like phones or pda type gadgets. Wireless power! That is smart.
Hold the phone! You mean no wire for charging? That's crazy! Yes it is.
Before you go to Best City Circuit Buy USA to get one read the fine print. This will be a power "SYSTEM". Translate that to mean only certain providers are going to offer Splashpower compatibility. Not all of your doo-dads will be able to charge.
If you are wondering why you have not heard of it yet it is because they are not really out in the real world yet as best as I can find. The site states that devices are coming out in 2007. One day we will be able to do fancy wireless thing.
On a different train of thought, have you seen the Dr. 90210? (I think that is the name of it). I am glad that we have L.A. as a storage area for the freaks and weirdos. Kinda like New Orleans but with more money. The lady on the commercial wanted a diamond implanted into her wrist so she would not have to put on jewelry. That is funny, sick, sad stuff.

Who told them this was OK?
I am working on my in-law's PC at the moment. Since they are on a dial-up connection I thought I would run all of the Microsoft Updates for them while I am working on it. By the way I had to add memory thanks to Norton AV. Never again Norton, never again! That is another blog altogether.
Included in the list of critical updates was IE 7. The in-laws are computer users but they are not interested in new and fancy. I went ahead and let it install for two reasons. I thought I would see what it looked like and there maybe a security advantage to it.
On a 5mb cable connection it took over a minute to scan this blog with the anti-phishing nonsense. That was killed instantly. There is no way this is ever going to be possible on a dial-up account. Well, there goes the security advantage.
What is wrong with the buttons at the top and why can't I change them???? I put the "File Edit..." menu back on the screen but I was not able to get it above the retarded bubble buttons. It took several tries to add this blog to the favorites menu. Why is RSS so freaking hard for browsers to deal with? Don't laugh firefox, I'm talking to you too. RSS is not the same as a bookmark, don't treat it as such!
Why is it assumed that I want a cartoon look to software. Maybe I don't want to WASTE processor time to render a jazzy interface. Stupid bubble arrows.
Either way, I regret having installed IE 7 now. The interface change alone will likely cause me some heartburn. I don't care how "clean and simple" you make an interface if you don't allow the user to control it then you are dead wrong my friend. I don't care if you think it is silly or old fashioned of me but I want to control what I am looking at and how it works.
The bottom line is that IE 7 is to Firefox as OpenOffice is to MS Office 2003. It works like Firefox but it is still just a copy of some of the features. I am not ready to put any of my machines on IE7. I am closer to moving completely to Ubuntu!

Fake wood and Acoustic sets
It's fourteen months after Rita and I am still working on my house. I finally have a floor in my office again. Its the laminated fake wood type but it is better then the concrete that I have been looking at all these months.
At least it is a good time of year for some of my favorite music. Emery has a "Deluxe" edition DVD out this month and Demon Hunter has something similar. I don't have either one but I plan to get them. Emery is fast becoming my favorite band. The acoustic versions of their tunes that are on pure volume are awesome. I will have to see what they come out with next. They could pull a Dead Poetic on me.

The sound of fury
I work at home. I have a day job but I have a night job too. After the wife and kids are fast asleep I work. Sometimes I play. Either way I have to be quite. When my son was born I bought a cheap set of wireless headphones for $50 at Wal-Mart. They broke last week.
The transformer melted the same night that I lost my 16 port switch. No big loss right? I have other headphones and earbuds. I can do without all of that for now. This did not last.
I decided to put out another $50 at Wal-Mart for another cheap pair of RCA wireless headphones. The problem is that they don't sell wireless anymore. Neither does Target by the way. I had to go to Best Buy.
I fell into the Best Buy trap and instantly found myself looking at the higher priced sets. I went there for the cheap phones but I bought the $89 Sony model. Of course they rang up $99. Nothing is ever priced right. (I think it is how they pay for the electricity to power the thump music wall which is the reason for my current headache.)
Well, I am here to tell you. These headphones are awesome! No buzz, no static, just really good sounding speakers strapped to my head. I am hearing so much of the quality of the music that I was missing. I am hearing little details that are making me look around the room wondering what is making that sound, oh, it is my music! Awesome. The colors have taste once more!
The RCA phones were like listening to music through a cell phone in a rain storm at times. Speaking of cell phones I could hear the buzz of my cell seconds before it would ring. It was like ESPN or something.
Anyway... Great headphones. I have to have music while I work and blog. Now I can get up and walk all over my house with only a little bit of static.

Some software I like:
Firefox - Not because of hate but because of love
OpenOffice - Like McDonalds if you can't afford Wendy's. At least there is no "ribbon"
Google Earth - This software may save your life someday
TopStyle Pro - Come for the css, stay for the 'hands off my code' editing
Microsoft Small Business Server
There are others but I am sleepy.

Never thought it would come to this!
So, this is blogging? Huh, who knew? Well, I guess a million other people already know about this blogging jazz.
This is a way to put some items of interest out to those who know me. If you are reading this you are likely one of the people I told "check out my blog!". I would expect nothing more.
I expect to put information about my interests without respect to what anyone wants to read. This is mine, you can read it but if you want to change something get your own blog.
That'll do for now.
